We’re incredibly excited to announce that the week commencing Monday 16th June will mark the launch of Pennthorpe’s inaugural Innovation Week for pupils in Years 3 to 8!
At the heart of Innovation Week lie the three Cs that drive forward-thinking learning: Curiosity, Creativity, and Collaboration. This unique and dynamic week is designed to spark imagination, inspire critical thinking, and bring learning to life beyond the classroom.
Our pupils will immerse themselves in real-world experiences, from visiting local businesses and engaging in project-based challenges to collaborating in vertical slice groups across year levels. We’ll also be welcoming a host of inspirational guest speakers and industry voices into school to lead talks, workshops, and hands-on sessions that shine a light on the power of innovation in today’s rapidly evolving world.
At Pennthorpe, we believe that the future belongs to those who can think critically, solve problems creatively, and work confidently with others. Innovation Week is our way of showing our children that while traditional subjects provide a foundation, it’s the skills of adaptability and bold thinking that truly shape the world beyond school walls.
We’re thrilled to be working closely with a number of local businesses who will be both hosting and setting real-life challenges for our pupils during the week. But we’re also keen to widen the lens and bring in as many diverse voices as possible.
Can You Help Inspire the Next Generation of Innovators?
If you—or someone you know – work in a sector where innovation is key, we would love your support. There are a variety of ways you could get involved:
-
Deliver a talk in one of our Year 3–8 Huddles
-
Lead a small-group session with a specific year group
-
Run a hands-on workshop
-
Share your insights on what innovation looks like in your world
Whether you’re an entrepreneur, engineer, artist, scientist, designer, or problem-solver in any field, your story could be the spark that lights a fire in one of our young learners.
If you’d like to get involved or find out more, please contact Mr Marler at jmarler@pennthorpe.com.
Let’s work together to show our children just how exciting and limitless the future can be when innovation leads the way.
