On Thursday, Pennthorpe was transformed into a cosy haven of colour, cuddly slippers, and bedtime stories as pupils and staff took part in Book Trust Pyjama Day — and what a wonderful day it was!
From our youngest learners to our dedicated teachers, everyone arrived in their comfiest pyjamas, ready to celebrate the joy of reading and raise money for a cause close to our hearts. With laughter echoing through the halls and the pages of books turning in every corner of the school, the atmosphere was filled with warmth, imagination, and shared stories.
Book Trust, the UK’s largest children’s reading charity, works tirelessly to get books into the hands of children who need them most — and this day was our chance to support that mission. Because we believe that every child deserves the magic of a bedtime story and the adventure that comes with every book.
Throughout the day, classes enjoyed special story sessions, reading circles, and fun activities all centred around a love of books. It wasn’t just about dressing up — it was about showing our children that reading is fun, meaningful, and something to be shared.
And thanks to the generosity of our Pennthorpe community, we raised a fantastic £218 for Book Trust! Every penny will go towards helping children across the UK discover the joy of reading — and the possibilities it can unlock.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated, participated, and helped make this day so special. Together, we turned a cosy, giggle-filled Thursday into something truly powerful — because when children read, futures grow brighter.
