The children travelled on the Bluebell Railway to “Heaven Knows Where” and had the opportunity to role-play being billeted, to meet some veterans who lived through evacuation and to write a postcard home, using an old fashioned ink pen! They finished their experience by sheltering in the subway when the air raid siren sounded. It was a fabulous day and gave our children a deeper understanding of events from the era.
