On Monday, our school was filled with teddies, cushions, and the warmth of a community coming together for a cause close to our hearts — Duchenne UK.
We are thrilled to announce that we raised an incredible £786.96 for Duchenne UK. This amazing total was only possible thanks to the kindness and generosity of the wonderful Pennthorpe community.
As Arabella and Lexi shared:
“On behalf of our whole family, thank you so much for your support. It will really help boys like our brother, Jasper.”
Children and teachers swapped uniforms for their comfiest clothes and embraced a proper ‘Duvet Day’ together. Armed with soft toys and squishy cushions, everyone enjoyed a special cinema-style screening of Cars in the Sports Hall, complete with popcorn — the perfect way to relax, stay cool, and learn a little more about Duchenne.
The whole school also got behind the cause by buying specially designed wristbands — in the same colour as the one Jasper wears every day to alert people to his medical condition. Arabella and Lexi created the wristbands themselves, choosing the message “Do it your way Duchenne UK”, which couldn’t be more fitting. Jasper really does do it his way — with courage, determination and a great big smile.
A big thank you goes to all the staff who helped make the day so special, and to everyone who donated, bought a wristband, or simply showed up with love and support in their hearts.
You may have even spotted an old Pennthorpian lending a hand — our big sister Saskia came along to help us sell the wristbands!
From all of us: thank you. Your support means the world.
