Feedback from the Leadership Team

We are immensely proud of what this report reflects about Pennthorpe, and we hope that, as you read it, you too will feel a real sense of pride in our school. Pennthorpe belongs to all of us. Our sincere thanks go to our pupils, who were wonderful ambassadors throughout the inspection, to our dedicated and committed staff, and to our parents, for the trust, support and partnership that sit at the heart of our community.

The Inspectorate’s key findings, when looking at the pupils academic and other achievements were:

  • Leaders uphold high expectations for children’s achievements.
  • The school’s use of the Pennthorpe Purpose develops pupils’ understanding of themselves as learners, encouraging independent learning and demonstrating diligence in all areas of their education.
  • The school promotes a collaborative and aspirational culture that prioritises pupils’ wellbeing.
  • The curriculum is carefully planned so that pupils gain new knowledge and develop skills across a wide range of subjects.

The key findings, when looking at the pupils’ personal development were:

  • The school promotes a kind and respectful culture.
  • The school’s moto ‘non nobis solum nati’ meaning ‘not for ourselves alone’ is understood well by pupils and reinforced consistently by staff to foster a supportive school community that values contributing positively to the lives of others.
  • An effective personal, social, health and economic education (PSHE) programme supports pupils’ personal growth and development well.
  • Pupils cultivate a secure sense of social responsibility by taking on leadership roles, engaging in charitable activities and building connections within the local community.
