Our Nursery welcomes children from the age of two – offering specialist education and consistent, caring relationships throughout a child’s most important foundation years. We understand and celebrate that every child is unique, and that belief is woven into everything we do from the very first moment we welcome you and your child through our doors.

One of the things that makes Pennthorpe Nursery truly distinctive is how fully immersed our youngest children are in the life of the wider school. From day one, Nursery children have access to the same rich variety of indoor and outdoor learning environments as the rest of the school, benefit from our specialist teachers across art, sport, and more, and wear their own age-appropriate version of the Pennthorpe uniform. They are not separate from Pennthorpe — they are part of it.

Our setting is designed to ignite children’s natural curiosity and love of exploration. From our woodland classroom and outdoor adventure spaces to creative and imaginative play indoors, every environment is carefully considered to support learning that is joyful, purposeful and suited to each child’s age and stage. We do not rush this time; we give children the space to grow, to discover, and to develop the confidence and independence that will stay with them long beyond their Nursery years.

We also know how much it matters to you that your child is not just learning, but truly happy. That is why relationships — with children, with families, and within our team — are at the heart of everything we do. What to expect on Open Morning...

An Open Morning at Pennthorpe is a relaxed and unhurried occasion. There is no formal presentation or hard sell — simply an opportunity to see the Nursery as it really is, meet the people who work in it, and ask the questions that matter most to you.

During your visit you might expect to:

Tour the Nursery’s indoor and outdoor learning spaces, including our woodland classroom and adventure areas
See children at play and at work, getting a genuine feel for the rhythm and warmth of a typical Nursery day
Meet Sophie and members of the Nursery team, and talk with them about your child’s individual needs and interests
Explore the wider school — as a Pennthorpe Nursery child, yours will be part of the whole school community from day one, so understanding that world matters
Ask about admissions, settling in, and what the journey from Nursery through to Prep looks like at Pennthorpe
