According to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation & Development, reading for pleasure is the one of the biggest indicators for life success. Therefore, World Book Day is a charity on a mission to help change children’s lives by making reading together and reading for pleasure a habit for life.

Here at Pennthorpe, we have organised some very exciting activities for the children this year during World Book Week!

On Tuesday 1st March we are very excited to welcome a local author Vashti Hardy to our school.  She is a writer of children’s books spending her time between Lancashire and Sussex. Click here to find out more about Vashti!

On Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th March, West End for Schools is visiting Pennthorpe! All children from Honey Pot through to Year 6 will have the opportunity to explore books through the medium of dance and will prepare a short dance to perform at the end of their workshops.

Friday 4th March will also be our World Book Week Dress-up day.  Anything from Harry Potter to Matilda, our children are invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book character.
