Life at Pennthorpe

Community Enrichment Events

At Pennthorpe we strive to share the wonderful learning experiences, teaching expertise and excellent facilities that our children benefit from every day.

To do this we have established an Enrichment Programme, where we invite children from schools in our local community to join us to try new and varied activities that are not currently covered by the national curriculum.

Our next event had been planned for Thursday 21st May 2020, ‘The Pennthorpe Space Chase’. Unfortunately, because of the COVID-19 pandemic this enrichment event has had to be postponed. Once the plan to ease lock down is published we will decide upon an alternative date to hold this event. In the mean time, you can check out what we have planned for the event below.

The Pennthorpe Space Chase is aimed at Year 2 children. We want to motivate and illuminate our visitors; encourage them to pursue wider goals, as well as give them an opportunity to meet new friends and have some fun!

Hold on to your hats! The day will start off with a bang! The children will learn about the chemical reaction that occurs when oxygen and methane are mixed together! Over the course of the day the children will design, make and launch their own water rockets, make and taste astronauts’ food, create an edible solar system and much much more. The day will close with a presentation to parents, showing off the children’s exploits and celebrating the highlights of the day.

If your school is interested in bringing children to this event, once a new date has been finalised, please register your interest here.
