Community Enrichment Events

At Pennthorpe we strive to share the wonderful learning experiences, teaching expertise and excellent facilities that our children benefit from every day.

To do this we have established an Enrichment Programme, where we invite children from schools in our local community to join us to try new and varied activities that are not currently covered by the national curriculum.

Our next event is ‘The Pennthorpe Space Chase’, which is taking place on Thursday 21st May 2020*, from 10:00am – 4:45pm (including a parent presentation from 4:00pm).

The Pennthorpe Space Chase is aimed at Year 2 children. We want to motivate and illuminate our visitors; encourage them to pursue wider goals, as well as give them an opportunity to meet new friends and have some fun!

Hold on to your hats! The day will start off with a bang! The children will learn about the chemical reaction that occurs when oxygen and methane are mixed together! Over the course of the day the children will design, make and launch their own water rockets, make and taste astronauts’ food, create an edible solar system and much much more. The day will close with a presentation to parents, showing off the children’s exploits and celebrating the highlights of the day.

If your school is interested in bringing children to this event then please register here.

*Please note that due to the current COVID-19 situation the arrangements for this event are subject to change.
