Welcome to The Honey Pot, our pint-sized Nursery wonderland. Honeypot is the start of the Pennthorpe journey, a home from home for our youngest children. Led by delightfully kind, nurturing and experienced staff, the children can explore the world around them and begin to establish relationships with their peers.
Set in a cosy bungalow, the Honeypot provides a wealth of opportunity for educational play in a home-like environment. With its own child-friendly garden, packed with toys, sandpits, waterplay and flowerbeds, the children relish endless outdoor play and have regular access to the school’s extensive 11 acres of woodland. Sleepy rooms, a kitchen for cooking, playroom, quiet room and changing facilities make the Honeypot an ideal environment for little children to feel both safe and secure whilst encouraging increasing independence and risk taking.
Children can begin their Honeypot adventure in the term after which they turn two years and parents can be flexible in their choice of sessions. We encourage children to attend three session per week in order to develop a level of consistency with the aim to build their attendance over the course of the year. Children can attend full days, have breakfast at 7.30am and stay until 6pm depending upon parents working status or personal schedule. Simply let us know how we can help.
The Honey Pot Day
Each day in Honey Pot is varied and different. The children are able to explore through role-play, sand and water, free play, small world and adult led activities. Honey Pot children have specialist Music lessons, are involved in Christmas performances, off-site educational visits, Sports Day and other areas of school life. They are very much part of the wider school community.
Honey Pot offers a very calm, caring environment in which children settle quickly and feel at ease during their first steps along the educational path. Our existing parents often comment on the outstanding relationships between staff and children, as well as the inspirational teaching and learning that takes place.
When your child arrives at The Honey Pot in the morning, they will find activities set out in the room for them to choose. A member of staff is always available if parents need to discuss anything whilst the other staff in the classroom will settle the children into activities and ensure their needs are met.
Once parents have left, staff sit down with the children as a whole group for registration. We then introduce or extend our topic of the week and talk about the activities we are going to do that day.
During the morning we gather together for whole-group activities such as circle time, music, movement, class number games, songs and rhymes.
During the session we give the children a variety of snacks including fruit, toast or pancakes and a drink and we encourage the children to try different foods.
