A group of our Year 6 pupils have been challenged with voting for their favourite shortlisted book in the Awesome Book Awards.

The idea of The Awesome Book Awards came about in 2015 whilst discussing ways to inspire reading amongst Prep School aged children. The Awesome Book Awards aims to champion new authors and their debut novels. New authors are often combining their writing with a full-time job whilst others are embarking on life as a full-time author.

The shortlist for this year is:

Rumaysa by Radiya Hafiza
Elsetime by Eve McDonnell
The Beast and Bethany by Jack Meggitt-Phillips
The Valley of Lost Secrets by Lesley Parr
The Boy Who Made Everyone Laugh by Helen Rutter

I really liked this book because it easily created vivid pictures in my mind. I loved the language and each fairytale was amazing Aleya on Rumaysa

I loved this book. It was very touching and I felt sorry for the main character. I liked how he overcame his fear, but did Blakemore learn algebra? Year 6 pupil on The Boy Who Made Everyone Laugh
