​​Year 7 made their own electromagnets in Science and then investigated the strength of them by altering the number of coils in the wire surrounding the iron core and seeing how many pins they could pick up.

Electromagnets are used in everything from doorbells and electric guitars, to cranes and high-speed trains. Electromagnets are much more useful than regular magnets because they can be turned on and off. That’s right! A quick flip of a switch starts or stops the flow of electricity. Life just wouldn’t be the same without them!
