The next school

Pennthorpe routinely sends pupils on via 13+ Common Entrance or Scholarship exams to a wide range of schools including the following:  Charterhouse, Royal Grammar School Guildford, Cranleigh, Farlington, Epsom, Reigate Grammar, Worth, Ardingly, Hurstpierpoint, Brighton, Lancing, Seaford and King Edward's Witley.

Pennthorpe has a long and unblemished history of achieving 100% 13+ Common Entrance pass rates to these and other senior schools and on average over a third of our 13+ leavers achieve scholarships. 

As your child progresses through the school you will wish to form an idea of where you would like him or her to move on to after Pennthorpe.  We maintain close links with a variety of senior schools and helping parents with the choice of senior school is one of the most important tasks that we undertake.  We attach great importance to making sure that, between us, we get it right.  For pupils leaving at the end of Year 8 a final decision needs to be made by the end of Year 7, although it is advisable to register at the likely school(s) of your choice at an earlier stage.  Individual appointments are made for parents to discuss the options with the Headmaster and Academic Administrator. Unless we know that a decision has already been made, we contact parents for a preliminary discussion during the children's first term in Year 6, but those who wish to have an earlier discussion are most welcome to request an appointment to do so.
