Pennthorpe School policy for health and safety on school trips
Pennthorpe has a School Trips Co-ordinator who is responisble for overseeing the programme of school visits and residential trips and for ensuring that school trip Health & Safety protocols are observed according to school policy.
Permission for all school trips and outings is given by the Headmaster or Head of Pre-Prep.
Parents are fully informed in advance about educational trips involving their children. Full information about the planned trip is given, including written details outlining the nature of the trip and the activities involved. Parents are asked to give their informed consent to their children going on the trip concerned and taking part in the activities involved.
Where appropriate, parents are asked to complete medical questionnaires for their children.
Research
Research is always undertaken on the choice of venue for a new visit to ensure that it is appropriate to the pupils concerned and of educational value. Where an activity centre with its own instructors is being proposed, research is done into its safety record, the qualifications of its instructors and the centre's licensing.
Risk Assessment
In every instance, the member of staff in charge of the trip conducts a risk assessment which is available for parents to view on request.
