Pennthorpe's ethos
...is underpinned by Christian values of tolerance, of respect for the community and the individual and of service to others. Our school motto, Non nobis solum nati, means 'Born not for ourselves alone'.
Pennthorpe seeks to provide a secure, happy and stimulating environment in which children can have fun while they learn, which encourages each to discover his or her own strangths and enthusiasms and to develop them to the full.
We believe in achievement in its broadest sense. Academic attainment lies at the heart of what we do, but we place high value also on achievement in the non-academic arenas, in sport of course, but also in the visual and performing arts: at Pennthorpe, it's cool to be in the choir! We believe that fulfilment in life comes from a balance of abilities and interests and that our role is to ignite our pupils' passions for a range of different activities and pursuits which will sustain them throughout their lives.
We also believe in treating every child as an individual, and in working in partnership with their parents, so that when the time comes for our pupils to move on to their senior schools, they do so as fully prepared, confident and well balanced youngsters.
