Pennthorpe School curriculum policy
The prime aim of the Pennthorpe Curriculum is to pursue high individual achievement. We emphasise achievement in its broadest sense - whether pupils are studying the National Curriculum, CE subjects, scholarship work, developing a sensitivity to other people and the environment, gaining knowledge and skills for adult life, or developing responsibility and confidence to make informed decisions about their lives.
There are separate Pennthorpe Departmental Handbooks available to parents to view on request. These cover the full range of the curriculum and include the aims of all academic and non-academic subjects, resources, our expectations of the pupils, and details of extra curricular activities.
The curriculum aims to:
- be balanced and broadly based
- provide equal access and opportunity
- ensure differentiation, progression and continuity
- be relevant to all pupils
- provide specialised opportunities and support for pupils with special educational needs, including gifted children.
