At one with the community

Policy

Pennthorpe is committed to undertaking community and charitable activities that reflect the School's status as a Charitable Trust.  Charity fundraising and other links with the local community are seen as essential aspects both of the obligations of charitable status and of the moral development and education for citizenship of Pennthorpe's pupils.

Pennthorpe provides extensive financial support for children from less well-off families, both through its Assisted Places scheme and through the provision of means-tested bursaries. These include a limited number of 100% bursaries.

Pennthorpe has close links with its neighbouring primary school, Rudgwick CPS, with whom a number of shared initiatives have been undertaken.

The school makes its premises, facilities and school minibuses available (at cost) to a large number of different community user groups, including cricket & netball clubs, scout & guide groups and church groups.

Pennthorpe is committed to charity fundraising and undertakes a number of such activities every year involving children, staff and parents.
